What is ortho?

Orthodontics is the art of science and smiling. It is a specialization of dentistry that not only treats but also shapes the harmony of the face and soul. It deals with how teeth dance in their rows, how jaws meet in balance, and how a shy smile gives birth to self-confidence.

An orthodontist is like a sculptor – gently, step by step, guiding teeth into the correct shape so that every smile can shine in all its beauty. It's not just about aesthetics, but about health, balance, and the fact that when your smile is in harmony, everything seems easier, more beautiful, more natural.

Why is it important?

Orthodontic treatment from an early age is extremely important because it helps prevent not only aesthetic but also functional problems with teeth and jaws. Early diagnosis allows the doctor to detect incorrect bite development, tooth position, or jaw growth at a stage when these changes can be easily corrected.

Treatment at a younger age often leads to shorter treatment times in adulthood and reduces the need for invasive procedures such as extractions or surgery. In addition, properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of tooth decay and gum disease.

MDDr. Georgia Fountoulaki

Orthodontist

Dr. Gina comes from Crete, Greece, and came to Slovakia in 2011 to study dentistry at the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava.

Po úspešnom absolvovaní štúdia pôsobila na Univerzite Komenského ako assistant professor, where she participated in teaching students and also engaged in scientific activities. In collaboration with expert mentors, she published several articles in international medical journals. Her research work focusing on changes in breathing after orthodontic treatment was even selected for front page of the magazine Diagnostics.

Následne začala specialized studies in orthodontics, during which she gained extensive professional experience in modern orthodontic methods, digital planning, and interdisciplinary cooperation. She is constantly expanding her education by participating in international professional courses and training sessions.

Pri svojej práci kladiem veľký dôraz na precíznosť, jemné detaily a prirodzenú harmóniu úsmevu. Verím, že aj malá zmena môže priniesť obrovský rozdiel — nielen v estetike, ale aj v tom, ako sa človek cíti sám so sebou. Každému pacientovi sa venujem individuálne, s empatiou a úprimným záujmom.

Chcem, aby sa počas liečby cítili pokojne, v bezpečí a aby vedeli, že na tejto ceste nie sú sami. Moje rozhodnutia vždy stoja na odbornosti, skúsenostiach a moderných technológiách, no rovnako aj na ľudskosti a pochopení. Mojím cieľom je, aby si každý pacient — či už dieťa, tínedžer alebo dospelý — odniesol z liečby nielen krásny a funkčný úsmev, ale aj novú sebadôveru, odvahu a radosť. Pretože verím, že úsmev dokáže meniť životy. A veľmi si vážim, keď mi zveríte ten svoj.
